Yubico, the leading provider of hardware authentication security keys, announced that its Yubico Enrollment Suite for Microsoft users was available, including Yubico FIDO Pre-reg and the new YubiEnroll. It integrates with Microsoft’s Entra ID for organizations to get stronger cyber resilience while providing support to further advance strategies using a Zero Trust model. The Yubico Enrollment Suite lets organizations elevate security standards and make the approach passwordless with phishing-resistant multi-factor authentication (MFA) to secure Microsoft ecosystems.
“Microsoft and Yubico have worked together for years to ensure that businesses worldwide can protect their identities from increasingly sophisticated cyber threats such as phishing”
Microsoft’s newly launched Secure Future Initiative (SFI) is aimed at providing strong phishing-resistant authentication solutions based on FIDO2 and CBA standards, by taking in the technologies and efforts of the FIDO Alliance members including Yubico and Microsoft. In addition to the SFI, Microsoft required MFA for all sign-ins, including those for Microsoft Entra ID, Azure, and other portals. Customers would be able to meet the requirements of the mandate and receive access for their customers using Microsoft Entra ID to a turnkey passwordless MFA onboarding experience through receiving YubiKeys that are already enrolled for their Microsoft environment.
“Microsoft and Yubico have collaborated for years to ensure that businesses worldwide can protect their identities from increasingly sophisticated cyber threats like phishing,” said Nitika Gupta, Partner Group Product Manager at Microsoft. “With the integration of Yubico Enrollment Suite and Microsoft Entra ID’s FIDO provisioning, we empower our customers to create phishing-resistant users and fully secure the employee lifecycle—from onboarding to authentication and account recovery.”. Our customers can now attain security and flexibility that will protect enterprise resources with phishing-resistant YubiKeys.”
Yubico and Okta have recently released the industry’s first solution for delivering pre-registered YubiKeys for Okta users with Yubico FIDO Pre-reg, and now introduces this capability as part of a Limited Early Access availability within the Yubico Enrollment Suite for Microsoft customers using Microsoft Entra ID. Yubico FIDO Pre-reg takes care of all key delivery logistics from door to door, reducing burden for both IT staff and end users. Meanwhile, with the new YubiEnroll client application, organizations and Yubico partners using Microsoft Entra ID will be able to easily enroll YubiKeys on behalf of end-users at their premises.
Yubico FIDO Pre-reg is available only through YubiKey as a Service. Benefits of Yubico FIDO Pre-reg include:
Delivering phishing-resistance on day one, with employees becoming phishing-resistant users throughout the entire employee lifecycle including onboarding, authentication, and account recovery.
Enable enterprises to effectively enroll end-users directly into an authentication platform in order to enhance cyber resiliency.
Eliminate key points where they may be exposed, and it eliminates the responsibility of the help desks or users from making security decisions.
Designed for IT staff and administrators, YubiEnroll streamlines the process of preparing, creating, and registering FIDO credentials directly with your identity provider. Key features and benefits of YubiEnroll include support for:
Available as an application for Windows, YubiEnroll is capable of enrolling a FIDO credential on behalf of a user, as well as configuring the YubiKey for use.
A set of robust features such as factory resetting YubiKeys and Security Key Series keys, PIN setting and management-including forced change of PINs and minimum PIN length-and user verification configuration are offered.
All form factors of YubiKey and Security Key are supported-whether you connect with NFC or USB. Plug in or tap to let YubiEnroll walk you through enrollment.
As the cyberthreat landscape continues to evolve and become more sophisticated, users and organizations alike will need to remain phishing-resistant at all times to form a strong defense against cyber attacks,” stated Jeff Wallace, senior vice president of product at Yubico. “However, phishing-resistance starts and ends with the user – and enterprises should focus on making phishing-resistant users across the enterprise.”. Yubico Enrollment Suite integrating with Microsoft Entra ID helps businesses achieve that with reduced burden on IT staff as well as users by employing modern authentication, moving smoothly with the user across devices, services, and business scenarios”.
